From classroom STEM to future careers
Where could STEM take your students? Vyatra’s new career-focused learning sessions connect classroom concepts with real workplaces and the people who bring them to life.
This week at Brisbane Catholic Education’s STEM MAD, around 500 students plus their teachers joined a livestream from CS Energy’s Callide Power Plant in Biloela, Queensland. We showed how electricity is generated in a Thermal power station via the electromagnetic induction process as well as some of the key components like the Steam Turbine. Members of the Power plant’s operations team spoke engagingly about their careers, and showed students pathways into the industry through apprenticeships, traineeships and graduate programs in engineering, environmental science and data.
We have developed similar STEM learning + career awareness sessions covering:
- Electricity generation
- Electricity distribution
- Wastewater treatment
Each session will spotlight a local provider in the school’s region, connecting students with the people, skills and career pathways close to home.
